Common questions, answered

Will the raised toilet seat fit my toilet?

The McKesson Raised Toilet Seat fits most standard and elongated toilets and clamps on with no tools. It adds exactly 5 inches of seat height and supports 300 lbs. The padded armrests are removable if they get in the way.

Will it feel wobbly?

The raised seat locks on with a front clamp. The safety rails have a footrest that adds stability and need no assembly at all. The commodes have non-skid tips and assemble tool-free with push-button adjustments.

What's the difference between the two 3-in-1 commodes?

Very little, frankly: the $41.99 model has a 13½-inch seat and 7.5-quart bucket; the $30.99 model has a 13¼-inch seat, 8-quart bucket, and lists a 15½–21¾ inch height range. Both are 350-lb, 3-in-1 designs (bedside commode, raised toilet seat, safety frame) that fold flat.

Can it double as a shower chair?

The Stander Universal Bedside Commode ($85) is explicitly designed for triple duty — commode, shower chair, or toilet rail — with a 300-lb aluminum frame. We don't claim shower use for the other commodes, so stick to dry use for those.

How much weight does it hold?

300 lbs for the raised seat, safety rails, and universal commode; 350 lbs for the 3-in-1 commodes; 1,000 lbs for the bariatric commode with drop arms.

Do the armrests get in the way?

The raised seat's padded arms are removable. The bariatric commode has drop arms made for exactly this — wheelchair users can slide over sideways for lateral transfers.

Before you buy

Check your toilet type. The McKesson Raised Toilet Seat fits most standard and elongated bowls and clamps on tool-free.

Check weight vs capacity. 300 lbs (raised seat, safety rails, universal commode), 350 lbs (3-in-1 commodes), 1,000 lbs (bariatric with drop arms).

Don't buy this if you need a shower chair. Only the Stander Universal Bedside Commode ($85) is rated for shower use. The McKesson 3-in-1 commodes are not claimed shower-safe.

Great item to Have!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I will have this installed in my spare bathroom for visitors, with disabilities. It looks very sturdy and easy to use. Assembly is more complicated than I expected and I'll need to hire a handyman to install this item. It's lightweight and decent looking.
